While at Lil Cooperstown, enjoy a good meal and friends. Tell the waitress you are there in support of the OCHS Wrestling Team and a percentage of the bill will come back to the school.

Anderson hits free throws, Pioneers claim third at state

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Oregon City High School girls basketball team bounced back from its first loss of the season with Saturday's 61-56 win against South Eugene in the third-place game of the OSAA Class 6A girls basketball state tournament at the Rose Garden.

The Pioneers (28-1) suffered a tough 55-47 loss to Southridge Friday in the semifinals, but rebounded Saturday against the Axemen as Ashleigh Anderson scored a team-high 13 points. Alisa Griggs added 12 points and eight rebounds for Oregon City while Taylor Ward, Taylor Belmont and Tiffani Brewer added nine points apiece.

Oregon City was clinging to a 56-55 lead when Anderson hit two foul shots with 58 seconds remaining to give the Pioneers a three-point lead. After South Eugene's Mackenzie Kerins hit 1-2 from the foul line with 33 seconds to play, Anderson hit two more foul shots with 32 seconds remaining to give Oregon City a 60-56 lead. On South Eugene's ensuing possession, Maddie Kiplinger and Ellen Cook both missed three-pointers for South Eugene before Anderson grabbed the rebound and was fouled with four seconds remaining.

Oregon City overcomes McNary's quick start at state tournament

PORTLAND, Ore. - McNary's solid start wasn't enough to derail the defending state champions Wednesday.

The Celtics jumped to an early lead, but top-ranked and undefeated Oregon City responded with a key second quarter and went on to score a 77-47 win at the Rose Garden in the quarterfinals of the OSAA Class 6A girls basketball state tournament.

The No. 8-ranked Celtics (18-6) got off to a hot start, going up 9-1 on a three-pointer by senior Megan Hingston. However, three straight turnovers turned into three consecutive baskets for the Pioneers as Oregon City (27-0) got back in the game. McNary held a slim 16-15 lead at the end of the first quarter and the Celtics never led again. The Pioneers outscored the Celtics 24-10 in the second quarter and held a 39-27 halftime lead.

The Pioneers outscored the Celtics by seven points in the third quarter before the fourth quarter when Oregon City held a 16-6 scoring advantage.

Thanks to McNary's hot shooting in the first quarter, the Celtics shot 11-20 (55 percent) from the field in the first half.

Marine Patrol alerts boaters of recent land slide and debris in Clackamas River

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol has reported a land slide along the Clackamas River.

Marine Patrol personnel located this slide approximately one mile downstream from Barton Park. The photo images provided illustrate the significance of this land slide with the accompanying large trees blocking a portion of the river.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol encourages boaters to use caution while transiting along this portion of the Clackamas River. In addition, this dislodged sediment may eventually alter river channels downstream from this location. Changes in water levels may also dislodge these trees in the water, causing them to float downstream and block other river channels.

The USC pre-game radio broadcasters and the university's own athletic director had more respect, recognizing the talents of the Rodgers brothers and how difficult they are to tackle.

Capacity of the LA Memorial Coliseum: 93,607 (which means it's really loud when the Trojans get it going).
