Clackamas County to open H1N1 clinic Nov. 17

The Clackamas County Health Department will open its H1N1 flu vaccination clinic from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 17 to distribute the vaccine to priority groups. All forms of vaccine will be available.

The clinic is located at 168 Warner-Milne Road in Oregon City, on the county’s Red Soils campus. The site is next to the OSU extension building and diagonally across from the entrance to Portland General Electric.

Winter farmers market coming to downtown Oregon City

The market - which will run on two Saturdays - will be set up on 8th Street at Main.

The dates are Nov. 21 and Dec. 19. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Veterans to be honored during assembly at Oregon City High School

Area veterans are invited. The high school is located at 19761 S. Beavercreek Road and the assembly will start at 8 a.m. on Nov. 10.  Coffee and refreshments will be available in the Hospitality Room prior to the assembly.

Coastal Farm Annual Pet Costume Contest

Coastal Farm is holding the annual Pet Costume Contest on October 29th from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm. We will donate your 1.00 costume entry to the local Animal shelter. We will have a small, medium, and large pet category, as well as a non-dog/non-cat category, and an overall best costume. Come join the fun! This is being held at all Coastal Farm locations.

FolkTime hosts auction to support mental health support services

FolkTime, a program providing support for Portland and Clackamas residents with mental illness, is holding its annual auction at the Dance Pavilion at Oaks Amusement Park on Oct. 15 from 5 to 9:30 p.m.

Proceeds from the event will support the 23 year old non-profit.

FolkTime is the only peer-driven program that provides critical, inexpensive social support for Portland and Clackamas residents with mental illness. FolkTime has two programs, one in NE Portland and the other in Oregon City. Both are consumer run drop-in centers that operate without government assistance or Medicaid payment.

Peer-directed support services have proven to reduce hospitalizations and emergency room visits and improved quality of life for consumers and their caregivers.

"I’ve been coming here since ’87," said one FolkTime member. "I was one of the first members here.

Long-running safety fair has it all

Future firefighters and emergency responders looked it over closely and were awe over the flashy blue Life Flight helicopter.

It was one of the featured attractions at the Danielson's Safety Fair in Oregon City Sept.
